Endoscopic Transsphenoidal Hypophysectomy : Report of l case



Abstract
In the last decade, nasal endoscope has bocome an essential instrument for diagnosis and surgical treatment of paranasal sinusitis. Furthermore, there has been trials to apply advanced endoscopic techniques to the more critical surgery such as
CSF
leak
repair, optic nerve decompression, and orbital decompression. In patients with pituitary tumor, the transseptal transsphenoidal approach via several different routes has been most popular access to the pituitary gland. In this report, a 34-year
old
male
patient with pituitary adenoma was treated using endoscopic transsphenoidal approach avoiding trauma to the nasal septum.
The advantages and disadvantages of various techniques are compared.
